Educating about Manufacturing in Florida: Manu-Facts The bullets below provide starter Florida manufacturing facts and figures to develop a mini- manufacturing promotion project directed to the school and its community. x Florida’s manufacturing sector is a significant employer that provides high-wage, high value-added jobs and is more stable than most other economic sectors. x Florida has a strong, skilled manufacturing workforce that represents 5% of the state’s workforce. x There are more than 14,000 manufacturing businesses in Florida. x About 307,000 people in Florida are employed by manufacturers. x Florida ranks No. 13 in the nation in manufacturing jobs. x The average annual salary for a Florida manufacturing employee is $68,000 or 72% higher than the statewide average private sector wage. x In 2010, Florida exported $14 billion of manufactured goods to Free Trade Agreement partner countries. x Manufactured goods represent 85 to 90% of all Florida exports.
